About this event

In July 2019, the National Center for Education Research (NCER) in the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) convened a group of expert researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to hear from the field about how information and advising strategies can be used to support students as they navigate pathways through college. The day's discussion centered on four topics: (1) information and advising within a conceptual model for college student success; (2) research on and implementation of light-touch informational interventions; (3) more intensively engaging students through advising and coaching; and (4) hybrid and comprehensive intervention strategies. The day ended with panelists offering their recommendations for future research aimed at improving informational and advisory supports for students.
