Description: During the Summer Institute, educators and school leaders will receive training on (1) the core principles of culturally responsive pedagogy, evidence-based literacy practices, and their intersection to support effective strengths-based instruction using a focal student approach; (2) the purpose of common instructional routines; (3) instructional strategies, including signal and wait time, opportunities to respond, and corrective feedback; and (4) mapping the instructional routines onto their reading curriculum. School leaders will receive training on the importance of school leadership teams and developing and communicating common agreements.
