About this event

Time: 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. (Mountain Standard Time)

Location: Virtual

Description: The webinar Using Questions Strategies to Support Struggling Math Students is designed to address the regional high-leverage need of improving mathematics outcomes in the middle grades by introducing the practice guide Assisting Students Struggling with Mathematics: Response to Intervention for Elementary and Middle Schools. The webinar will potentially increase educators understanding of research-based strategies that will in turn increase the readiness of middle school students for Algebra I.

Partnership or Research Alliance: The College and Career Readiness Research Alliance supports states and districts with technical assistance and research as they seek to ensure students graduate from high school prepared to enter the workforce or postsecondary or technical education programs. Success in mathematics for all students is critical to ensure college and career readiness, access to STEM careers, and success in college and career pathways.

Audience: The primary audience for the event includes school district personnel, coaches, administrators, and teachers at the upper elementary and middle school levels who want to improve math instruction for struggling students. Other interested parties may include state education agency (SEA) staff. The content of the webinar will focus on actionable strategies to help students struggling with mathematics.

Speakers: Presenter: Barbara Dougherty, PhD, is the director of the Curriculum Research & Development Group of the University of Hawaii.
