Voyages
Elementary School Mathematics

As of March 2013 no studies of Voyages were found that fell within the scope of the Elementary School Mathematics review protocol and met WWC design standards. Therefore, the WWC is unable to draw any research based conclusions about the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of Voyages to improve outcomes in this area.

Developed for grades K-5 by the School District of Hillsborough County, FL, in accordance with state and district standards, Voyages uses a compact curriculum to accelerate math instruction and is comprised of two main components to meet diverse learning needs. Excursion Lessons provide teacher-led, interactive, contextual approaches to solving real-life problems through lessons which may take two to three days. Anchor Lessons focus on developing basic math skills and algebraic concepts through the use of visual and abstract representations. Textbooks and teaching guides are provided for lessons, as well as manipulatives kits and assessment tools.

Positive: strong evidence that intervention had a positive effect on outcomes.

Potentially Positive: evidence that intervention had a positive effect on outcomes with no overriding contrary evidence.

Mixed: evidence that intervention’s effect on outcomes is inconsistent.

No Discernible: no evidence that intervention had an effect on outcomes.

Potentially Negative: evidence that intervention had a negative effect on outcomes with no overriding contrary evidence.

Negative: strong evidence that intervention had a negative effect on outcomes.
