Setting

The study took place at three high schools in one large school district in Arizona. Schools were selected based on location near a community college, prior use of the ACE Plus program, and demographic characteristics of the students.

Study sample

The sample was 50% Hispanic, 68% female, and 13% spoke Spanish at home.

Intervention Group

The ACE Plus program offered concurrent enrollment in high school and a local community college. Participants are selected during the spring of grade 9 and students typically participate in the program from grade 10 through grade 12.

Comparison Group

Students in the comparison condition attended the same high schools but did not participate in the concurrent enrollment program.

Support for implementation

The ACE Plus program is a 20-year partnership between the local area high schools and the community college district.
