REL Appalachia

About Our Region

REL Appalachia serves state and local education agencies in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. The region's diversity ranges from large urban school systems (e.g., Metro Nashville, Jefferson County Schools in Louisville, Kentucky; Fairfax County Schools in northern Virginia) to remote rural districts deep in West Virginia's and Kentucky's coal mining country.

The dashboard below offers detailed data for each state and for the region as a whole from the National Center for Education Statistics. All data are from the 2019/20 school year with the exception of graduation and free/reduced price meals, as 2018/19 data were the latest available.

Notes:

More recent statistics may be available via state websites. Click on the additional resources tab on the dashboard above for links to state data. The percentages of students by Race/Ethnicity, students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, students with individualized education programs, and students with limited-English proficiency programs were calculated by using total number of students from Common Core of Data (CCD). The Graduation Rate reports the public high school 4-year adjusted cohort graduation rate.
