Description

adult education in classroom

During regional trainings across Florida during the spring and summer of 2018, REL Southeast staff presented multiple sessions on evidence-based literacy strategies for adult educators. The Florida Department of Education and the Institute for the Professional Development of Adult Education at Indian River State College were excited to host these sessions in Miami, Tallahassee, Gainesville, Tampa, and Vero Beach. Representatives from school districts, state colleges, and corrections facilities throughout the state were invited to send teams consisting of teachers and leaders for a full day of professional development. REL Southeast staff shared literacy strategies through a sample lesson and discussed areas important to the implementation of adult literacy interventions during these interactive sessions. Follow-up training sessions were also held at the Florida Literacy Conference in Orlando, Florida and the Adult and Community Education (ACE) Conference in Sanibel, Florida.
