Classroom practical measurement toolkit for continuous improvement

Region:

Southwest

Abstract:

Description: This tool will provide resources for practitioners who are developing practical measures for use in Networked Improvement Communities (NIC) or other improvement science contexts, such as educator-initiated action research. The users of the toolkit will build on their background knowledge in continuous improvement processes such as plan-do-study-act cycles as they learn about principles of high-quality measurement and use the resources and templates in the toolkit to identify key contructs for measurement, locate and consider existing measures, develop and evaluate practical measures, and create measurement routines for collecting data that can be used to explore evidence of improvement in instruction and student learning. The resources in the toolkit are being developed by REL Southwest in partnership with Oklahoma Department of Education staff working with Oklahoma Excel's NICs. Examples of the processes and measures developed for the Oklahoma NICs will be used throughout the toolkit.
