The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) partnered with the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Midwest to redesign the state’s teacher supply and demand study to increase its utility for stakeholders. This presentation discusses the process of redesigning the study, the study’s findings, and how the findings have informed policy. This symposium features five studies related to teacher mobility and retention conducted by REL researchers in partnership with school districts and state departments of education. Session participants discuss conducting these types of analyses by drawing on findings and lessons learned from the studies presented on educator mobility or retention in states and cities across the United States.
