Description:
REL Midwest is facilitating a second virtual session with Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) Illinois staff to help them understand their role in supporting strategies for providing effective supports to Black and Latinx students along their pathways to a postsecondary education. Based on the REL Midwest documentaries Making It: Latino Students’ Pathways to College and High Hopes and Higher Education: Honoring Black Students’ Aspirations, participants work individually and collaboratively to reflect on and discuss the barriers along the pathways to college for Black and Latinx students. Then, they begin to develop action plans to implement the strategies highlighted in the documentaries and review their organization’s capacity and readiness to make the changes they have identified.
Speakers:
- Laura Checovich, REL Midwest
