In this conference presentation, REL Midwest researchers and staff members from Chicago Public Schools discuss the challenges and opportunities of collecting and using assessment data in early primary grades (K–2). Chicago Public Schools staff share lessons learned from efforts to implement a common assessment in these early grades across their schools and to support teachers to collect high-quality data and use these data to drive instruction. REL Midwest staff share insights from collaborative projects with districts focused on selecting a common high-quality early literacy assessment and on accurately assessing dual language learners in primary grades.
