Aligning Evidence-Based Clearinghouses with the ESSA Tiers of Evidence

January 2018

REL Midwest developed a crosswalk tool to help practitioners and policymakers determine the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) tier of evidence attained by findings about a particular intervention, if the findings are also aligned with a clearinghouse’s evidence standard. The crosswalk was initially created to support the Ohio Department of Education’s development of a state research clearinghouse for districts. However, the crosswalk can be useful to all states as they support districts in implementing ESSA’s requirements.
