Cleveland Research Agenda-Setting Workshop

May 2017

REL Midwest hosted a workshop to introduce the concept and process of developing a research agenda to Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) staff. The session helped participants identify their research priorities and translate them into a set of research questions that lent themselves to an actionable three- to five-year research agenda. Through the workshop, CMSD and REL Midwest developed a research agenda to guide the work of the Cleveland Collaboration for English Learner Success.

Materials from the workshop are available for download:

In 2018, a follow-up REL Midwest project trained leaders from CMSD’s educational researcher-practitioner partnership, the Cleveland Alliance for Education Research, to conduct their own research agenda-setting workshops for schools throughout the district. A facilitation guide from this training is available online.
