Effective Data Use to Support English Learner Students Part 2: Considerations for English Learner Students in an Assessment System

Tuesday, June 15, 2021

During this second webinar in a two-part series, participants learned about research-based practices related to data use, assessment, and accountability system development to support English learner students. Participants spent time:

  • reviewing the state-level data elements that describe and inform the performance of English learner students.
  • reviewing validity considerations and best practices for assessing English learner students and interpreting and using student data for various types of decisionmaking.
  • learning about considerations and options for effectively presenting and communicating English learner student data.
Participants also had the opportunity to engage in small-group discussions to reflect on the data collected in their own assessment and accountability systems, identify gaps and needs in their data, discuss the limits of their data, and consider next steps for their systems.
