Federated States of Micronesia Partnership for the Improvement of Teaching
The design of high-quality professional learning experiences for teachers, including access to four-year and graduate-level teacher preparation, is a complex and challenging issue in the Pacific region. The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) Partnership for the Improvement of Teaching is committed to focusing on the improvement of teaching (pre-service and in-service) at the national and state (Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap) levels.
Goals
- Development of a clearer model of effective instruction.
- Improved professional learning opportunities for in-service teachers.
- Development of pre-service teacher preparation experiences.

High-quality Professional Learning Design Trainings and CSoachings
Through trainings and coachings, REL Pacific is working with the Partnership to explore the characteristics of high-quality and job-embedded professional learning and integrated evaluation systems for professional learning. REL Pacific is also helping Partnership members inventory existing professional learning programs and compare them against the features necessary to teach successfully in the local context; align professional learning activities with jurisdiction goals, standards, and assessments; and plan the (re)design, implementation, and evaluation of professional learning opportunities.
