Pohnpei Partnership for the Improvement of Teaching
The design of high-quality professional learning experiences for teachers, including access to four-year and graduate-level teacher preparation, is a complex and challenging issue in the Pacific region. The Pohnpei Partnership for the Improvement of Teaching is committed to focusing on the improvement of teaching (pre-service and in-service) at the state level.
Goals
- Development of a clearer model of effective instruction.
- Improved professional learning opportunities for in-service teachers.
- Development of pre-service teacher preparation experiences.

Training, Coaching & Technical Support (TCTS) in Progress
This coaching project by REL Pacific supports educators in Pohnpei who want to deepen their understanding of Professional Learning (PL) in order to help increase teachers' ability to improve their practice and better engage diverse learners. The project also discusses the importance of using Professional Learning Standards to organize effective professional learning.
