Description

St. Johns County Florida School District requested coaching to train teachers on how to teach algebra in a way that emphasizes connections across concepts in order to develop students' conceptual understanding of fundamental algebraic concepts. Using evidence-based recommendations highlighted in the IES Practice Guide focused on Teaching Strategies for Improving Algebra Knowledge in Middle and High School Students, REL Southeast is conducting a series of 8 sessions spread across the 2018-2019 school year.

Outcomes associated with this project include:

• Teachers become aware of the contents of the Algebra Practice Guide IES' Educator's Practice Guide entitled Teaching Strategies for Improving Algebra Knowledge in Middle and High School Students;
• Teachers improve current instructional strategies the recommendations in the guide.
