October 31, 2019
Young children develop at their own pace and can change rapidly as they take in the world around them. This development is complex and differs by child. Formative assessment is an effective way for teachers to learn about each child’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Teachers can then use the results to plan and individualize instruction and support the development of each child.
This video provides an introduction to formative assessment in prekindergarten and kindergarten classrooms. Viewers will learn best practices as well as some of the benefits and uses of formative assessment data at the classroom, local, and state levels.
