Jason Snipes, Director of Alliance Research for WestEd’s Regional Educational Laboratory West, has over 18 years of experience designing, implementing, and leading rigorous research and evaluation projects in education and social policy. He has developed and implemented research designs and analysis strategies for a number of large scale evaluations of K–12 education reforms, including first national random assignment evaluation of Career Academies, the national evaluation of Project GRAD (Graduation Really Achieves Dreams), and Institute for Education Sciences-funded randomized trials in professional development in reading and math.

Snipes has also led several projects focused on the synthesis of research and the assessment of its implications for policy and practice. He was principal investigator and lead author of a critical review of Student Academic Mindset interventions conducted for the Stupski Foundation, for which he developed the study design, conducted key informant interviews, synthesized literature, and co-authored the final report. He was also co-principal investigator and lead author of Foundations for Success, an influential set of case studies of education reform in large urban school districts.

Snipes received his BA in political science from Stanford University, and an MPP and PhD in public policy from Harvard University.
