Home Resource Ask an Expert: Elements of Effective Teaching
Through its “Ask an Expert” service, REL Northwest responds to requests from state and local education leaders for quick-turnaround, evidence-based information on topics that address high-leverage needs in the Northwest region.
For this “Ask an Expert,” leaders from a state education agency wanted to better understand the research behind elements of effective teaching. This resource may inform school districts as they make decisions about teaching practices and teacher evaluation tools.
Research indicates that elements of effective teaching that positively impact student outcomes fall within six general categories: preparation and planning, professionalism and collaboration, learning environment, teacher expectations, instructional delivery, and assessment and feedback. Download this resource to read more about each of these categories and the evidence that supports each element.
