The COVID-19 pandemic caused dramatic disruptions in the education system and pushed many school districts to shift abruptly to remote instruction at the end of the 2019/20 school year and much of the 2020/21 school year. This fact sheet examines what happened to students’ test scores and grades in Pittsburgh Public Schools during this time and how the changes in test scores compare to typical pre-pandemic growth nationally.
