On April 23, 2019, the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) hosted a free webinar on WWC resources that can serve as instructional tools for postsecondary research methods courses.

The webinar covered the following topics:

  • The WWC group design standards and how they reflect current best practices in research methodology
  • WWC resources that can serve as instructional aids for teaching methodological concepts related to causal inference and internal validity in education and social science research
  • How to access these resources on the WWC website

The presenters shared concrete examples for using WWC standards and resources in research methods courses aimed at training scholars in identifying what works in education and the social sciences. Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the presenters.

This webinar is intended primarily for college and university faculty, lecturers, and teaching assistants interested in using the WWC’s standards for teaching undergraduate- or graduate-level research methods courses.

Presenters:

  • Emily Tanner-Smith, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Research, College of Education, University of Oregon
