Title: | Reading Edge |
Description: | The WWC's report on Reading Edge reviews the research on this middle school literacy program that emphasizes cooperative learning, goal setting, feedback, classroom management techniques, and the use of metacognitive strategy. The program is a component of the Success for All whole-school reform model. The WWC reviewed 37 studies that investigated the effects of Reading Edge on adolescent readers. One study is a randomized controlled trial that meets WWC evidence standards without reservations. The study included 405 sixth-grade students from two middle schools, one in Florida and one in West Virginia. Based on this study, the WWC found Reading Edge to have no discernible effects on comprehension for adolescent readers. |
