The project team is developing a prototype of an application (app) for a tablet computer called Access: Language Arts. The app will support middle school students with significant learning disabilities in meeting Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts. The intervention will be designed to supplement classroom lessons and will emphasize skills including vocabulary, communication, grammar, critical thinking, and writing. The app will provide students’ access to a wide range of genres, including fiction and non-fiction.. Pilot research in Phase I will seek to demonstrate that the software prototype functions as planned and that students are engaged with the prototype.
