Purpose

The project will examine the promise of real-world, theme-based learning for engaging students in academic work at high schools serving predominantly low achieving, minority and and/or economically disadvantaged students and offering opportunities for students to focus on a career or interest in smaller learning environments. To this end, it will develop and pilot two high school curricula built around the themes of Health and the Arts that are to be aligned with state standards, academically rigorous, and engaging to all students.
