Purpose

This project team developed a prototype of a web-based software that used artificial intelligence techniques to provide support for adult learners and remedial college students as they studied basic math. This Phase I research demonstrated that the prototype tutor functioned as planned, that students were able to enter their own math problems, and that the software automatically provided assessment and scaffolding to engage learners.
