Supplemental information

This project is designed to enhance Nebraska's SLDS infrastructure to better support interoperability across the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) and with external customers. Recent upgrades to Nebraska's SLDS remain the core of proposed system enhancements. New features would include the implementation of a data lake for agency-wide data consolidation, a data hub for standardization and complete CEDS alignment, and the development of an application program interface (API) that will provide full data interoperability across the agency and with external SLDS customers. Leveraging this new infrastructure, we propose a visualization proof of concept using an off-the-shelf BI tool to explore data intersections with early childhood and postsecondary education, as well as workforce data.

Expected Project Outcomes:

The objective of this project is to enhance Nebraska's SLDS infrastructure to better support interoperability across the agency and with SLDS customers. This will be achieved by accomplishing eight project outcomes.

  1. Develop Mapping & Data Standardization
  2. Complete Infrastructure Readiness
  3. Consolidate Source Data
  4. Execute Data Harmonization
  5. Enhance Data Discovery
  6. Optimize API Infrastructure
  7. Develop and Deploy API
  8. Manage and Evaluate SLDS Grant Activities

Each project outcome will be accomplished by executing a series of tasks and, if applicable, subtasks as detailed in the full grant application.
