Project Activities
The program targets two diverse groups of researchers who evaluate U.S. education policies and programs: state/local analysts and educational researchers who conduct work typically funded by IES. This program builds upon prior successful IES methods training programs conducted by the Center for Benefit-Cost Studies of Education at Teachers College, Columbia University and includes an emphasis on the IES SEER principles.
The trainings will include three 3-day courses for 30 state/local officials (total enrollment 90) and three 5-day courses for 30 researchers (total enrollment 90). The program will provide additional support broadly to researchers across the country through annual webinars providing IES proposal guidance. Over the course of the training, the program will collect feedback from participants both immediately following the on-site instruction and 5 months later to continuously improve the training and to ensure the needs of participants are met. In prior years, the feedback received was positive with support for content covered, depth of concepts, length of the trainings by attendee type, and location.
