Integrated System For Teaching And Assessing Online Information Research

The project team is developing a prototype of a web-based tool to guide students in grades 4 to 12 in doing research on the internet. The tool will support students in the areas of social studies and science in organizing information into concept maps, in vetting good versus bad sources of information, and in sharing research with peers and teachers. The tool will also support teachers in assessing student research. Pilot research in Phase I will seek to demonstrate that the software prototype functions as planned, teachers are able to integrate it within the classroom environment, and students are engaged with the prototype.
