Purpose

The Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Research and Training Fellowship in the Educational Sciences (IPoRT Fellowships) prepared future leaders in educational science and technology research.

Project Activities

IPoRT fellows learned to apply state-of-the-art knowledge from cognitive science and the science of learning to understand students' educational experiences and to develop and rigorously evaluate new educational products and approaches. Given the growing importance of computers and the Internet for education and research, the training program had a strong focus on the use of technology for developing educational tools and technology as a tool for conducting educational research. The IPoRT Fellowships produced scholars who have the knowledge of theory and rigorous methodological and statistical skills to make major contributions to our understanding of learning and education and who can develop and empirically validate technology-based solutions for real-world educational settings
