Project Activities
In Phase I, the project team will develop a new prototype of a classroom intervention to support educators in coordinating small group activities as students collaborate in solving math puzzles and also support their peers in areas of social-emotional learning. The prototype will leverage vision technologies and natural language processing technologies to personalize learning by providing insights to educators who are overseeing multiple groups simultaneously. At the end of Phase I, a pilot study will include 6 upper elementary educators and 150 students. Researchers will examine if the prototype functions as intended, if educators are able to implement the intervention as a part of regular classroom practice, if students' attitudes towards math and their social emotional skills increase in a pre-to-post survey, and if students increase in learning fractions increasing from a pre- to- post assessment.
