Supplemental information

In this project, the research team will develop a prototype of a platform to support the implementation of project-based learning activities in elementary school classrooms.  The prototype will include a set of video-based virtual field trips with resource packets for students to be exposed to real-world topics to engage students, with content that aligns to standards in science, reading, writing, and 21st century skills; and an educator portal with training modules to aid project implementation and assessment of student learning. In the Phase I pilot study with 10 educators and students in their classes, the researchers will examine whether the prototype functions as planned, whether students are engaged when participating in the virtual field trips, and if teachers can implement intervention and perceive that students learn standards-aligned content and 21st century skills.
