Purpose

Under this grant, the research team is empirically examining the degree to which some psychometric decisions made in calibrating student response data on state assessment programs influence the teacher effects estimated under VAM. The study will examine the impacts on VAM teacher effect estimates for one-, two- and three-parameter models and comparing vertically scaled versus not vertically scaled student scores, using maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) procedures.
