Phase I Development
Contract number: 91990024C0006

Purpose

In this project, the team will develop a novel prototype of a multi-media platform to enhance college students' ability to be ready to learn and succeed in school. Approximately 40 percent of students who enter college as freshman do not eventually graduate with a degree. Institutes of higher education are seeking new ways to support students to remain and be successful in school and to be prepared for careers.

Project Activities

The project team will develop a novel prototype of a multi-media platform with components including learning modules with motivating, tangible, and practical advice for success in college based; a content library covering topics based on the science of learning such as self-regulated learning, time management, and effective learning strategies; and a dashboard for students to set personalized goals and schedules and evaluate progress.  At the end of Phase I, the team will carry out a pilot study with a total of 40 undergraduate students and will examine if the prototype functions as intended; if students are engaged and motivated while watching, reading, and interacting with content; and if students perceive an improvement in their self-regulation and study skills.
