Assessing Use of Evidence-Informed Interventions to Support School Improvement in the District of Columbia add remove

Schools identified as needing comprehensive support and improvement (CSI) under the Every Student Succeeds Act must meet specific exit criteria to be removed from that designation. Schools that do not meet these criteria within three years are subject to more intensive, state-determined intervention. To inform intervention efforts, OSSE and DCPS are partnering with REL Mid-Atlantic to develop and pilot a tool that assesses schools’ implementation capacity and use of evidence-based strategies that support students’ connections to school, post-secondary opportunities, and academic progress. This information will help OSSE and DCPS identify strengths, gaps, and next steps to strengthen implementation of evidence-based strategies that help turnaround chronically low-performing schools.
