REL Mid-Atlantic is partnering with the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) to improve the transparency, understanding, and usability of the state’s data on student opportunities and performance and school funding. This partnership will help build NJDOE’s capacity to design and refine public-facing data tools that are grounded in user needs and informed by evidence.
Partnership organization: New Jersey Department of Education
Current Projects
The New Jersey Department of Education releases a wide range of data on student enrollment, district and school performance, school staffing, education expenditures, and other key topics. The state would like to redesign its dashboard and data visualizations to allow users to explore data, make comparisons across schools or districts, and examine trends over time. This work will help NJDOE consider evidence on effective dashboard design and gather feedback to better understand user needs. These insights will inform improvements that make data more accessible, understandable, and usable for different audiences.
