Summary

The Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Southwest—in partnership with the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) and participating districts—conducted a study to assess the usability, feasibility, and acceptability of the Leading Early Childhood Achievement and Development (LEAD) professional learning series. This learning series focuses on play-based learning and high-quality interactions in prekindergarten (preK) and kindergarten classrooms. The study piloted LEAD with two cohorts of school leaders and teachers during the 2023/24 and 2024/25 school years, using feedback from the first cohort to refine implementation of the second. Findings provide practical guidance to strengthen the design and delivery of LEAD and inform future evaluation of the intervention.
