All public school districts in the country provide basic information to the Common Core of Data (CCD), whose files are maintained by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). This report makes use of CCD to examine the status of small rural school districts in 1993-94 and the processes of change in those districts over the period from 1986-87 to 1993-94.
