Summary

This report will analyze factors related to writing achievement in grades 3, 7, and 11. Based on student self report of background factors, the report will describe the characteristics and attitudes of certain groups of students in relation to how well they can write. It is likely to detail the specific features of writing instruction, how students approach their writing tasks, students writing experiences, and home and school supports to academic achievement. The report is expected to be useful to teachers, principals and writing supervisors intersted in information about good instructional practice.
