REL Southwest
Publication date:
August 2023

Summary

Understanding evidence-based strategies for supporting new teachers can help school and district leaders identify programs that nurture the newest members of their team and help keep them in the profession. Louisiana's New Teacher Experience, a comprehensive induction program launched in 2022/23, integrates evidence-based practices to foster and retain early career teachers. This infographic describes the program's four core components and summarizes evidence-based strategies for retaining early career teachers.

Related Partnership: Through the Supporting Early Career and Aspiring Teachers partnership, Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Southwest is working with the Louisiana Department of Education and other state and local education agencies to examine how the New Teacher Experience addresses the state's goal to recruit, support, and retain early career teachers.
