Description: REL Central and NDE partners will facilitate a training with Educational Service Unit (ESU) representatives from Nebraska. First, we will orient ESU representatives to the policy and evidence context for improving reading achievement for Nebraska students. Next, we will establish a common understanding of "evidence based", then provide an overview of the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) practice guides and the NebraskaREADS practice guide summaries. After this, and for the bulk of the training, we will focus on building the capacity of ESU representatives to use both the WWC practice guides and the NebraskaREADS practice guide summaries to assess and select evidence-based strategies to help meet a literacy need identified by data. The training will focus on ESU representatives as primary users of the resources and as trainers/coaches who support teachers in their regions in accessing and using the resources.
Partnership or Research Alliance: Nebraska School Improvement Research Partnership
Audience: The intended audience for this training will be ESU representatives focused on supporting literacy from each region in Nebraska.
