Summary

Time: 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. MT

Location: Virtual training session

Description: REL Central will provide two virtual trainings focused on using state education agency data to understand educator retention, mobility and attrition. The first trainings will enhance the capacity of leadership and staff in state education agencies (SEAs) to use data to understand teacher retention, mobility, and attrition. This session has four objectives: (1) to demonstrate how SEA data have been used to address questions on teacher retention, mobility, and attrition by reviewing approaches to analyzing data in REL studies that examined these topics; (2) to consider decisions regarding the use of SEA data when examining teacher retention, mobility, and attrition in order to inform SEA analysis of data related to these topics; (3) to discuss common challenges and limitations related to the use and interpretation of SEA data in examining teacher retention, mobility, and attrition; and (4) to identify the implications of, and potential solutions to, common challenges in states in the REL Central region.

Partnership or Research Alliance: Educator Pipeline Research Alliance

Audience: Invited participants include SEA leadership and staff from Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
