Description: Representatives from the National Forum on Education Statistics (Forum), the Privacy Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) network, and the Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS) Program have joined efforts to provide helpful information for state and local education agencies interested in working with researchers. We will discuss the benefits and processes for partnering with researchers to effectively use SLDS data to support states' important program goals and address critical policy questions. You will hear about a project that REL Central is proposing to work with four states in reviewing Career and Technical Education outcomes, and how they plan to leverage Common Education Data Standards (CEDS) to support the project. You'll also learn more about the Forum's Supporting Researcher Access to Data - SEA Perspective and Supporting Researcher Access to Data - LEA Perspective guides. We'll share:

  • Privacy considerations that are critical to establishing relationships with and providing data access to researchers
