Evaluating the Effectiveness of Federal Education Programs and Strategies

Visit the National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance

Overview

The National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance conducts rigorous studies of federally funded education programs and practices that assess their impact on academic achievement.

NCEE's Evaluation Division helps people learn the importance of evaluation studies and how to use these studies to develop, build, and sustain successful programs. Its evaluations are conducted consistent with the Department’s Agency Evaluation Policy to ensure our findings are objective, reliable, and rigorous. To date, we have launched over 90 evaluations that address important education topics including:

  • Early literacy interventions
  • Professional development for teachers
  • Instruction of English learners
  • Education of students with disabilities
  • Interventions to improve low-performing schools
  • School choice programs
  • Supports for college access and completion
