REL Pacific Event: Taking Action with Education Data: From a Policy Maker’s Perspective

The goal of this event is to present attendees with information on the practical application of Brief 2 from the Forum Guide to Taking Action with Education Data so they can learn more about using data to inform school policies. Dr. Ellen Mandinach, Research Scientist at WestEd, will provide an overview of the Forum Guide, while working closely with a speaker in the region to make the content relevant to the attendees. REL Pacific is engaging Dr. Rita Sablan, Commissioner of Education and Chief State School Officer for the CNMI Public School System, to provide insight on the stakeholders in CNMI and the rest of the Pacific region.

Audience: This event is designed for school and district leaders at state education agencies who are interested in further developing “the basic skills necessary to effectively use available data to make decisions and take actions related to their job responsibilities” (National Forum on Education Statistics [NFES], 2012).

Location: Marianas High School, Saipan, CNMI

Speakers: Dr. Ellen Mandinach, Research Scientist at WestEd, and Dr. Rita Sablan, Commissioner of Education and Chief State School Officer for the CNMI Public School System
