Partnership or Research Alliance: Equity in School Discipline Collaborative
Description: Join REL Northwest’s Vicki Nishioka for a Northwest Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Network virtual presentation describing recent research on improving equity in school discipline policies and practices. During this presentation, participants will learn how exclusionary discipline practices in Oregon schools changed after implementation of state school discipline policy reforms, with a particular focus on changes that affected students of color. The presenter will share implications from two studies, including strategies for reducing exclusionary discipline for disruptive or aggressive behavioral infractions that do not present a threat to safety.
Audience: Administrators; educators; specialists; paraprofessionals; and consultants from state education agencies, local education agencies, and education service districts
