Description: Grow-your-own (GYO) teacher programs recruit and train teachers from within communities and can bring racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity and skills (such as bilingualism) into the educator workforce. These programs are often partnerships between school districts, community organizations, and teacher preparation programs. This virtual convening will bring higher education, district, and state stakeholders together to explore the current research on GYO teacher programs and promising regional models for developing and sustaining these programs.
