Description: This 90-minute panel will explore ways to engage effectively with practitioners to facilitate evidence-based decision making. The presentations will draw on research on evidence use in practice as well as the deep knowledge and experiences gained through two research-practice partnerships (RPPs): the Midwest Achievement Gap Research Alliance (MAGRA) and the MIST Project. The first presentation will share recent research on the conditions under which school districts are best able to learn from external partners. The second presentation will describe the goals, activities, and lessons learned during MAGRA’s first year. Finally, the third presentation will share the findings from the MIST Project’s study of district partners’ adoption of research recommendations over nearly 10 years. The panel will end with a moderated discussion.

Partnership or Research Alliance: Midwest Achievement Gap Research Alliance
