Description: This in-person bridge event, hosted by REL Midwest and the Michigan Department of Education, will focus on aligning expectations for new teachers between K–12 and educator preparation institutions (EPIs). The event will cover existing research on new teacher competencies, information about high-leverage practices, and examples from EPIs and K–12 schools and districts in Michigan working together to prepare novice teachers for success. The event will include question-and-answer sessions with the presenters and will conclude with facilitated table discussions in which participants will consider how they could more effectively partner with their counterparts to improve teacher preparation.

Partnership or Research Alliance: Midwest Alliance to Improve Teacher Preparation

Audience: The primary audience for this event will include Michigan-based representatives from educator preparation institutions, K–12 schools (traditional public and charter schools, including superintendents, principals, and teacher leaders), and state education agency staff.
