Description: The REL Pacific service region faces a number of challenges related to recruitment, retention, and continued development of its teacher workforce. In several Pacific jurisdictions, for example, while teachers are required to hold a degree (often an associate degree), these degrees are often unrelated to the content they teach, and they have little to no preservice teacher training. This poster will present information on how to build an understanding of the evidence-based characteristics of high-quality professional learning, define characteristics of high-quality professional learning in their own contexts, and monitor and develop specific professional learning opportunities appropriate for their unique teaching force.
Audience: The audience for this conference is participants at the Hawaii-Pacific Evaluation Association Conference.
Speakers: Dr. Max Altman, REL Pacific at McREL International
